Serving with Heart & Hands
Welcome back to Heart & Hands: A Journey in Nursing. While pondering on my topic, this scripture came to mind. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Today’s blog is about Serving with Heart & Hands. Healthcare is more than a job - it’s a calling. Every day, you walk into the unknown, stepping into moments of pain, hope, and healing. Some days, your hands bring comfort; other days, they bear the weight of sorrow. Through it all, God sees your labor of love.
But let’s be honest—there are days when exhaustion sets in. Days when you feel unseen, unappreciated, or just plain weary. On those days, remember this: your work is holy work. Every patient you care for, every kind word you speak, and every moment of compassion you offer is a reflection of God’s love in action.
God’s Strength in Your Weakness
When Jesus walked the earth, He was the ultimate healer—not just of bodies but of souls. And yet, even He took time to rest, to pray, and to be renewed by the Father. If Jesus Himself needed moments of restoration, how much more do we?
When you feel drained, lean into God’s strength. When you wonder if you’re making a difference, trust that He is working through you in ways you cannot see. And when you feel like you have nothing left to give, let Him fill your heart again.
A Moment of Reflection
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Remember that your work matters. You are not alone—God walks beside you in every shift, in every moment, in every act of care. Keep going, knowing that your labor is never in vain. 💙
A Prayer for You
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the privilege of serving others through my calling in healthcare. On days when I feel tired and overwhelmed, remind me that You are my strength. Fill me with compassion, patience, and endurance. Help me see each patient as You see them—with love and grace. And Lord, in the midst of the chaos, remind me to slow down, to rest in Your presence, and to find joy in the work You have called me to do. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Thank you for spending your time with me today. If this resonated with you, share it with a fellow nurse who could use some encouragement. And don’t forget to subscribe for more insights, stories, and inspiration.
Until next time—keep healing, keep listening, and keep making a difference.
XOXO,Ashley
